WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM A CONSULTATION, AND HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE?
Consultations/Tastings are at a 4 person maximum. We want to keep this as intimate and special as possible! During your consultation, we’ll cover cake(s) design and/or dessert options. You will taste some of our most popular cakes (and/or) dessert options. If you haven’t already, make sure you fill out our “Get an Estimate” form. We will discuss this preliminary estimate during the consult. You can find some cake designs on our Instagram and website Gallery that may help you decide on vision for your wedding! If you’re unsure about what you want, that’s okay too! We can chat about what you do and don’t like, and create a custom design based on your personal preferences.
WHERE DO I FIND INSPIRATION FOR MY CAKE?
Anywhere! Our Instagram, website Gallery, Pinterest, Google, a friend’s wedding, nature, an art museum, a cool building you pass every day on your way home from work- the options are limitless! The point is: we love creating. We’re artists, we love a challenge, and we love finding inspiration in anything and everything. That being said, if you find the perfect cake design and want it recreated, we can do that too! Just keep in mind that the final product may have artistic differences from the original (just think: the Mona Lisa would probably look different if Van Gogh painted it instead of Da Vinci)
IS THERE A CONSULTATION FEE?
Our in-person consultation/tasting fee is $35, and to-go tastings are $25. Each tasting comfortably serves 2. You can always order more than one tasting box, if you would like to bring some home for your loved ones to try!
WE’VE HAD A CONSULTATION WITH YOU AND ARE READY TO BOOK! WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
First of all- Congratulations!! We’re so excited to bake for your big day! The first thing you’ll want to do is place your deposit to reserve your date. Deposits are $250 unless otherwise noted. If you didn’t place your deposit after your tasting, just shoot us an email and we are happy to send over a payment link to secure your spot! You can also swing by during business hours, and place a deposit in person. Once we’ve processed your payment, we’ll email you an updated invoice to serve as confirmation.
CAN WE MAKE CHANGES TO OUR ORDER AFTER PLACING A DEPOSIT?
Absolutely! You can make changes up until 4 weeks prior to your wedding!
WHEN SHOULD WE PLACE OUR DEPOSIT?
You can never book too early! You should plan to pay the deposit as soon as you know you want to book with us! We recommend placing your deposit about 6-9 months before your wedding date (in order to have the best chance of receiving a spot on our calendar) Sadly, we cannot guarantee availability! But don’t let that time frame discourage you; even if your wedding is coming up fast, we may still be able to accommodate you! Be sure to fill out a form here.
HOW CAN I MAKE PAYMENTS, AND WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT POLICY?
We break down our payments in 2 easy hassle free payments!
1. Initial deposit (usually $250)
2. Final Wedding Payment - this is the remainder of your balance.
This is due no later than 3 weeks before your wedding date. Please note, we do not to take any full payments before 3 weeks as this lines up best with our labor cost.
HOW MUCH CAKE SHOULD WE HAVE FOR OUR PARTY?
We typically recommend providing enough cake for 80% of your total guest count. If you’re expecting 150 guests, you should anticipate serving 120. We can chat about this during your In Person Consult and make a tailored recommendation based on your guests!
HOW MUCH IS A WEDDING CAKE?
Wedding cakes fall into a very wide range of prices, depending on size and design. Our cakes our made up of three costs:
Cake Cost - our cakes start at $6.75 per serving (standard cake flavor) and increase depending on flavor combinations. Fondant based cakes start at $8.75 per serving.
Design Cost - is quoted separately. Design work can range drastically in price, the best way to get a quote is filling out our Get an Estimate form.
Delivery and Setup - price depends on the distance to the venue, as well as the level of involvement required for setup
I SEE ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT YOU MOSTLY USE BUTTERCREAM INSTEAD OF FONDANT; CAN YOU CREATE ANY DESIGN IN BUTTERCREAM?
Excellent question! Close to 85% of our bride’s cakes are buttercream creations! Sometimes a bride’s and/or groom’s cake design will require it be made of fondant:
3D cakes - like Cowboy Boots or a Yeti cooler will have a fondant exterior*
Sculpted Cakes - like football stadiums, or class rings will also have a fondant exterior*
Ruffle designs or 3D added embellishments will be made with fondant exteriors*
If you’re unsure if a design requires fondant or can be done in buttercream (most can!) reach out to us!
* all fondant cakes are made up of a buttercream based cake covered in fondant. Think of fondant like a banana peel, everything you want (delicious buttercream) is right underneath the exterior!
CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE FOOD ALLERGIES AND/OR OTHER DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
We offer a limited menu of Gluten Friendly and Vegan options. We even offer both gluten free & vegan (white & chocolate only)
We do our best to accommodate food allergies! We are not a certified Gluten Free bakery, and do not have a designated Gluten Free area. We work with 6 of the top 8 food allergens (milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and wheat) and cannot guarantee that there will not be cross-contamination.
We do not recommend servings our desserts if you have a severe peanut allergy or suffer from Celiac Disease.
